Posted 14 Feb 2017 Any suggestions on a gunsmith to work on an old group industries m16 to bring it into spec and make it function properly? Tight magwell and the bolt does not lock back on empty.
Posted 14 Feb 2017 (edited) Im going to recommend M60Joe for that. I know he's done exactly what you're looking for, and often does repairs for things that are really bad. Edited 14 Feb 2017 by Craigan
Posted 14 Feb 2017 What form do you submit to ship an mg to a smith? Form 3?
Posted 14 Feb 2017 Actually, if I recall correctly you do not *have* to do any forms for a repair if the smith has their SOT or manufacturers (07) ffls. The weapon remains yours, and is still registered to you. Of course the ATF recommends you submit a form 5 to protect yourself from any sort of false transfer issues, but again I don't think you are required to. Form 5s typically have quick turnaround. Insurance and shipping are something you definitely do need to take the high road on, though.

This is all correct.. they recommend a form 5, but when I sent my M16 lower to M60 Joe, I included a copy of my form 4 and a letter from me to him, granting permission to repair and test the lower for a certain amount of time.. Joe did great work... i shipped insured too GMANINGA
