Hiller
Where do I go to get my fingerprints scanned for the new eForms 4? UPS has fingerprint scanning as do most sheriff offices. Wondering which fingerprinting services will be acceptable by the atf efile? R/s, Hiller..........

Ryo
I wonder if the Silencer Shop Kiosks can sell the EFT file as a separate thing vs forcing the buyer to buy from that store. Definitely their streamline approach definitely will attract customers due to the ease..

Any dealer thats on SS can upload any can they have into SS inventory, and the person can run the forms through SS. I sell a lot of my private inventory to locals, who hit a button, and have SS do the form 4s.
Ryo
Yeah I remember that I could have my forms generated from there system but not sure how it is going to all work with the eft files.
howdy
Has anyone seen how electronic fingerprints work in the new eform system yet? It isn't on the eform 4 page itself, so I guess it makes the fingerprint submission available once you've submitted a form. Would like to see how exactly it works. Frank Iannamico
from ATF Good Morning, An eForm 4 applicant can submit their fingerprint cards two different ways. 1) During the application process, an applicant can upload a valid .eft fingerprint card file on the Responsible Person train-stop. This will mean that Responsible Person will not be required to mail in fingerprint cards for that submission if the .eft file was successfully validated during the submission process. 2) If they do not have an .eft file to provide or they were not able to get their .eft to successfully validate, the applicant will receive a cover letter after submission that will indicate where they need to send the fingerprint cards. The cover letter and fingerprint cards must all be sent together in one packet. So, if there are multiple responsible persons found on the application, they all must consolidate their cards into one packet and submit the bundle together along with the cover letter. The address to where the fingerprint cards and cover letter need to be sent is found on the cover letter itself. If the applicant submits .eft files for all responsible persons found on the application, no fingerprint cards or cover letters will need to be mailed to the NFA Division. I cannot assist you with locating who can provide that service to you. The site was working poorly then bam, it went out and is still out as of now. Not really suprising for a goverment website. R/s, Hiller.................................. Bill in Bama
I'm working on my first efile form 4, no eft print cards, my local LE don't do it, so I'll have to mail them in, but how can I get the form to complete and process without the prints attached in an eft file? Also, it keeps asking for a responsible person even though I checked individual transfer, so I get an error message.

Starz26
Dealers can buy systems that generate the eft files and electronically scan your prints. Honestly though the paper prints do not seem to delay things. the cost is quite steep with the cheapest systems being 2.5k give or take with an annual subscription fee. So most dealers will continue to just roll prints. again, either way is fine so long as they are using eforms . For note that is as is 6 months the wait will be a year again ugh

I dont think many retailers will invest in a machine that produces the forms yet will not generate return income.
tarh33l
Most places won't give you the EFT file. They want to keep selling you copies of your fingerprints rather than giving you one copy for life. SilencerShop certainly won't give it up - they like keeping your customers in their ecosystem. If you run it through them, they charge you $25 & eforms on your own isn't that hard. If the cheapest system is now $2.5k, that's a significant decrease from when I was looking this year and they were $4-5k. If you have enough customers, you could charge $30-50 to give them their prints on a flash drive & pay for the system fairly quickly, but many don't have the customer volume to support that. I had a customer use https://appointment.printscan.com/Appointments/ATF/AdditionalCopies This was done at a UPS store, they emailed the ETF file so he can use it again. The website gives locations that can generate an ETF file, not all UPS stores do it. You cannot open the ETF file, but you can upload it on eforms. Using manual fingerprints is still an option, you just mail them in with the letter eforms provides.

The responsible person "train stop" is confusing, it is just to edit info on the transferee. If you look to the right you will see a small icon to click on. This allows you to add/update info on the transferee. Until you do that you can't go any further. The "responsible person" reference is what makes it confusing. Watch the ATF video it explains that part. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/applications-eforms/video-tutorial-form-4 Edited June 23, 2022 by Frank Iannamico
