Aaron in Mohnton Pa
Short answer: Yes. There is only 1 verified transferable M249 in the registry .....It will sell for north of $500,000 if it ever comes up for sale again (yes, somebody will pay that, if not much more) Aaron - Mohnton, Pa Edited March 21, 2021 by Aaron in Mohnton Pa

Bwana
Get a FFL, pay your SOT and get a pre-sample for only $40-$45k...

mattnh
Yes, It can be kept with drop of license. Subsequent transfer must go to a entity with license - just like the requirement to acquire it in the first place. I.e. can’t be inherited following death or sold to a non-licensee. — Matt Edited March 21, 2021 by mattnh
Bwana
You have to participate in business - buying and selling. ATF does not allow getting a license only to collect some guns... As a non-licensed person you can purchase a transferable M16 and get a Shrike beltfed upper (or whatever it is called these days). You will spend less and get a pretty fun beltfed 5.56 MG plus a lot of versatility with the M16 platform.
