I can't tell from the pics if this is an M1 conversion to an M2 marked as M1, as M1 overstamped with M2, or an original M2 ??

Registered receiver? Or registered trigger group? Inquiring minds want to know. A photo of the paperwork answers many questions ahead of time. Just the gun info, not the transferee/transferor part.

I am sorry the pic is a little dark. It is stamped M1.

Registered receiver and yes I’ll get you a pic of the paperwork. Thanks for bringing this up and sorry I left it off.

What year was it made? If made1970 or earlier it is a C&R. Thanks, Michael

According to the tax stamp and a serial number search it was made by Winchester. I am not certain when it was made.

5,549,922    5,834,618         Winchester

Thanks,

Philip

M1 carbines converted to M2 by Class II mfg are not C&R eligible. Although the carbine here was made during WWII, in order to be C&R it has to be in its original configuration. The serial number of the carbine listed is too low for an original Winchester  M2.

If there is Class II manufacturer's name listed as the manufacturer, it is very likely that it is not C&R

The exception would be a military converted carbine that was amnesty registered.
