According to sources the last pistol manufactured by Remington-Rand was numbered 2465139, this pistol being numbered 1357849. The left side of the slide is marked with the third type legend "REMINGTON RAND INC./SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A." and the "P" proof is marked on top centered between the ejection port and rear sight. The right side of the frame is stamped with an Ordnance Wheel cartouche behind the grips, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number 1357849 behind the slide stop hole and "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" in front of the slide stop pin hole. The left side of the frame is stamped with "FJA" the inspector mark for Frank J. Atwood with a "P" near the magazine release. It has the groove type trigger, checkered hammer with narrow spur, checkered thumb safety, serrated slide catch, serrated flat mainspring housing with nine grooves and Keyes Fibre grips with the narrow reinforcement ring around the screw holes, mold numbers 23 and 27. It is fitted with a proper blue finish barrel marked with the "P" proof on the left side and "HS", indicating High Standard manufacture, on the right side of the lug. This pistol has a blue finish magazine marked on the bottom of the base R. Excellent with 97% plus original finish, showing very slight sharp edge wear on the tops of the sights and muzzle end of the slide, with a few scattered very minor scratches. The grips are excellent with sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. $2,500 plus shipping or best reasonable offer.
