Colt will not longer be producing Colt AR 15 rifles for the civilian market. Colt claims they believe there is an adequate number of AR15's already on the civilian market. They will be prodicing weapns for LEO and Military only in the future.

BOYCOTT these ball-less bastards.

Fxck Colt, I'll not buy one thing marked Colt ever again!

Yes i read about this, they have been telling they stop AR15 sales because they are waiting for some kinda government contract. But they are scared that Trump my loose the elections and they would have guns in the market that no one is buying. Boycotting begins on Colt. they are scums and all they care about is money like the rest of the Liberal BS.

Ha ha Colt believes there's  an adequate number....hilarious!

The Truth is ,

they  can't compete  with  the free market.

Regulations and Socialist Unions  as well as a hostile business environment could possibly factor in?

Don't they know  there's never enough Guns!

I'm not selling any of my Colts right  now,

I believe  the value may  rise.

YUP HATE TO SEE IT HAPPEN BECAUSE IT GIVES THE OTHER SIDE MORE AMMO TO BEAT THEIR CHEST OVER AND USE AGAINST US.  but as a past businessman cant see how they lasted this long.  with a NIB M-4 in the box slowly moving at under $700 no way can they survive.  IN MY OPINION THE WORST MISTAKE THEY MADE WAS MAKING THE ANNOUNCEMENT! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER FOR ALL CONCERNED JUST TO STOP PRODUCTION AND RUN SILENT. THE WAY THEY DID IT IS LIKE ADMITTING IT WAS WRONG TO OFFER THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.        DAMMIT THESE DAYS ARE 20 TIMES WORSE THAN EUROPE IN THE 30'S AND I FEEL LIKE SOME LONE ARMORER IN SHED AT FORT STEADMAN VIRGINIA  APRIL 1865 TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SURVIVE WHEN THE SMOKE STARTS CLEARING. TEXAS PLAYED A MAJOR PART IN THE CIVIL WAR SUPPLYING MEN AND MATERIAL, EVEN THOUGH FEW OWNED SLAVES. THE PRIMARY OBJECTION THEN AS IT IS NOW, BEING FEDERAL MEDDLING WITH STATE AFFAIRS  there were 5 major battles here and we were victorious in all firmly routing the blue coats and most historians agree the last battle of the civil war was fought here in TEXAS . LOOKING BACK , FEDERAL TROOPS WERE THE 62ND COLORED REGIMENT AND 200 TROOPS OF THE INDIANA VOLUNTEER'S. THEY WERE SOUNDLY ROUTED BY MASSIVE ARTILLERY AND SCREAMING  CHARGES.  LOT OF GOOD THAT DID ANY TEXAN, THEY STILL TOOK IT UP THE ASS FROM THE CARPET BAGGERS AND ITS STILL COMMING UNABATED.

Colt today is NOT the same as the Original Colt of years past. That can be said of most firearm conglomerates today. Most old American firearms companies have been bought out and products dropped for cost cutting. (Armalite, McMillian to name just 2). It's not about firearms now, just profit returns for a bunch of maggot investors who could care less about the product, it's history manufacture etc. Just profits friends. Glad I have a bunch of classic firearms built during the golden years of firearms manufacturing, when "gunsmiths", not technicians handcrafted what we all love.

P.F.S.!!

I agree and believe you are right. I also see the price on them jumping up by a pretty penny

It is shameful that Walmart and Colt are caving under pressure of the anti-gun asswipes.

Sam Colt is PUKING in his grave. What IS a shame, and NATIONAL DISGRACE is that there are people(that's being kind) in this country that will not be happy until they totally destroy every single shed of American culture and our rich history. That includes our history of firearms, the winning of the West, the conquering of illegal land, and our hard fought victories during the American Revolution ,Great War,Second World War, Korean War, VietNam War,Grenada, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, and a number of un-named and secret spook wars.American history is steeped in firearms, like it or not.

We cannot allow the mentally deranged left to do this to our beloved Country. Vote in 2020 to keep America, America. Otherwise we will become the new Soviet Union. I was in the CCCP before and after the curtain came down. Guarantee you would not like Soviet style government! Even the liberal sissy soy boys and girls would be most unhappy waiting all day in a bread line!!

FWIW

Didn't Colt imply when they began finishing up the current contracts, they'd start selling to us non-sworn civilians? Still, it seems like they WANT to turn people into Stag, PSA, Ruger, Smith, etc. buyers.

Colt Defense... definitely the innovator of small pin VS. large pin, blocked receiver, SP 1  ,  lightning link etc.. seems  they have been  managed by the Left for years.

Colt Statement Regarding Cessation Of Commercial AR-15 Production
September 19th, 2019
Company Response to Questions about Colt Participation in Consumer Markets

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (September 19th, 2019) – There have been numerous articles recently published about Colt’s participation in the commercial rifle market. Some of these articles have incorrectly stated or implied that Colt is not committed to the consumer market. We want to assure you that Colt is committed to the Second Amendment, highly values its customers and continues to manufacture the world’s finest quality firearms for the consumer market.

The fact of the matter is that over the last few years, the market for modern sporting rifles has experienced significant excess manufacturing capacity. Given this level of manufacturing capacity, we believe there is adequate supply for modern sporting rifles for the foreseeable future.

On the other hand, our warfighters and law enforcement personnel continue to demand Colt rifles and we are fortunate enough to have been awarded significant military and law enforcement contracts. Currently, these high-volume contracts are absorbing all of Colt’s manufacturing capacity for rifles. Colt’s commitment to the consumer markets, however, is unwavering. We continue to expand our network of dealers across the country and to supply them with expanding lines of the finest quality 1911s and revolvers.

At the end of the day, we believe it is good sense to follow consumer demand and to adjust as market dynamics change. Colt has been a stout supporter of the Second Amendment for over 180 years, remains so, and will continue to provide its customers with the finest quality firearms in the world.

Very respectfully,

Dennis Veilleux, President and Chief Executive Officer

Well actually it is probably more an issue of economics as opposed to Colt "giving in" to the gun grabbers, or trying to score political points with the socialist democrats.

With most distributors, and even dealers, there is a glut of AR-15's on the market. By temporarily discontinuing production, Colt is probably hoping to see demand come closer to equaling supply. By taking the temporary halt in production "personal" and refusing to buy Colt products, you are only doing what the gun grabbers would hope you would do.

Just my opinion.
