C&R, Thompson, M1, Auto Ordnance Corp, Bridgeport, CT, Importer was International Armament Corp, Alexandria, VA. Gun was checked out and tested by Robert Naess owner of Black River Militaria, Fully Transferable. Chrome Plated.

$24,995.00

Here are some of the comments he made regarding this gun:

The chrome plating is very good and very carefully and professionally done.

He asked me “Was it done for any special ceremonial purposes by the military?” I honestly don’t know

The metal was polished which is necessary as preparation for plating, which has removed some of the stamping on the receiver.

The gun looks really good due to the high quality and condition of the chrome.

Perhaps a officers Gun ,OR a GENERALS, I THINK NOT

I've spoken with two highly-regarded experts (that have written books about TSMGs) concerning the unusual Chrome and Satin Nickel guns that I have seen. They both were certain that Zero Genuine Factory guns (Colt and Savage) were finished in this manner. Each indicated that they'd seen a few examples that were Chrome or Nickel because "Southern Sheriffs or Police Chiefs" used them as "Parade or Ceremonial" guns. I definitely prefer the Factory Blue or Black Oxide. I cannot imagine it would do anything but enhance the value to have any of those guns professionally restored back to their original finish.

Back in the fiftys when this stuff was dirt cheep all sorts of finishs were put on these guns, not just thompsons, lugers ,45s, you name it, many years ago I was offered a Luger, that was plated like this Thompson, "Special Generals Gun"  the person trying to sell it,"  I agree on the above comment, have it stripped and restored,by some-one who knows these guns inside out ,shame to see this,
