  1. How do authors avoid running afoul of ITAR? I want to write a book about a foreign firearm and its ammunition. The firearm was developed in the 1930s and was produced into the 1940s. This book will contain a significant amount of technical data. Do I need to worry about running afoul of ITAR for publishing technical data? This firearm is a foreign military gun that'd be classified as a DD here in the US under current law. I'd assume it'd be exempt as an obsolete firearm as being 80-90 years old, being out of service in any military for 70-75 years, etc. But good intentions combined with assumptions is a fine way to get into a ton of trouble. Thank you for any help or guidance you can provide.
