  1. One and seven twist, pencil barrel, teardrop forward assist, no brass deflector. “2” marked flip sights on the Carrie handle. ETA you’re right I meant 723 not 703. I had my #s confused. I paid $875 shipped for it
  2. Thanks for the insight guys. Admirably, you all are in invoking Hanlon’s razor: never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity. And I suppose that’s the right attitude to have.
  3. That’s what I’m likely to do it is worrisome however when a dealer of $50,000 machine guns is so careless in describing an item. I’m getting PMs from people guessing exactly who it is because this apparently is not a first occurrence
  4. I just received what was described as a “new in wrapper“ M-16 upper. Colt Gray 1980s vintage it was listed as a 653 upper but it’s really a 723 upper because it is a 1:7 twist. That makes it an Israeli dispense forces upper. it matches an M-16 A2 factory full auto gun that I have. I received it today from a well-known Pennsylvania dealer. The thing is in decent shape, but it is hardly new in wrapper. There is wear on the bolt carrier, the inside of the receiver, nobody even bothered to clean the weapon, there is carbon everywhere. The dealer said we stand behind our product when I emailed immediately after receiving it. He said Send it back, which is fine and probably what I will do. I’m just disappointed that it could be so poorly described. I mean who titles an ad “new in wrapper” and then sells a dirty used product? The other conflict I have is, where am I ever going to find another upper like this? it’s not that I really need it and I never shoot that M-16 A2, but I figured it would add to the value if I had a matching, spare upper with it. I don’t have an online photo service or I would post a photo of the obviously worn internal upper receiver and bolt carrier and a handful of pieces absolutely covered in carbon What would you do?
  5. Sorry if this is a dumb question: what barrel was used and what can was used in the video? Does the can come with it?
  6. For clarification, this is an A1 forging marked A2 on the rollmarks, right?
  7. This is exactly why I have not bothered to "SBR" my SP5K sear hosts. Too much hassle, especially for those who fret over 922(r) - meaning both guys going the SBR route, and any buyer who thinks it's something to fret about.
  8. Doesn't seem like any evidence has come in to refute the "scam" hypothesis
  9. RUben's sold within hours for $45k September 2022. Neal Smith SN500: He had another one 1/23, sold quickly (days not hours) for $55k, link is on Sturm if you search the NFA boards Another one on this forum sold within past month for (well was listed for) $55k and I think it was alloy not steel. Search isn't working right now, else I'd post a link. This one was $45K IIRC: So I think < $45k right now is wishful thinking on buyers' part, and failure to follow the market on sellers' part.
  10. wishful thinking...."found in a basement" LOL I'm going to start from the position of "scam" and move away from that if any evidence to the contrary is presented
  11. maybe that's the gambit: play on peoples' "found in an attic" fantasies
  12. Actual posting sounds legit, but WTF Is this, some kind of basement discovery after an old-timer died of COVID or something? And even if it is, wouldn't you think that a serious seller would clean everything up and post some legit pics?
  13. I check for his obituary every six months or so and if that’s any indication yes he is still alive
  14. What’s going on with all these damaged AC556s? What goes bad on them?
  15. My understanding is that that is something that the ATF at one time allowed but then put the Kabash on it. It is presumed that that is what Colt was doing too, with or without permission, a while after ATF put the Kabosh on Oly the question here is whether the ATF will ever go back and reverse themselves. oh, nevermind. The ATF would *never* reverse itself…
  16. My understanding was that John Keosayian had a progressive neurological condition that effectively put him out of commission. Hence the liquidation of hundreds of guns around 2015-2017
  17. ^The other interesting thing about this, is that the dealers know these things are radioactive, but they're tight-lipped about that. You ain't going to successfully sue any dealer for knowingly selling you worthless contraband; it's about as likely as Colt winning a showdown with the ATF.
  18. Since we're speaking openly about it, there are 3 incontrovertible tells for a remanufactured Colt gun: manufacture mark says "Colt's MFG Co INC", the post-1989 restructuring designation rather than "Colt's Firearms Division" - Keosayian and his graveyard shift collaborators obviously had a brain flatus on this one, and used the wrong roll die on dozens of their remakes. It is as obvious as one marked "Colt Defense" or "9/11/2001 Never Forget" A4 receiver reinforcements Model designation rollmarks such as "M4 Carbine" and "Commando Enhanced" which were not known to exist until a later date I had send Spiwak a deposit on one marked "M4 Carbine" that also had the #1 tell above before I figured it out. The cognitive dissonance was almost unbearable, cuz I wanted that gun intensely. But I came to my senses and retained the services of a well-known Pennsylvania law firm that specializes in NFA matters and I was advised to "steer clear." YMMV
  19. ^^*this. It is decidedly unwise to challenge the ATF or thump on your chest like the Rare Breed folks are doing. Posting this stuff publicly is asking for trouble and documenting that you knew you had something they may declare contraband if just one field agent goes sniffing around is likewise pure folly. “From my cold dead hands” is a great slogan for the revolution but not for your $1 million machine gun collection.
  20. This whole thread is ill-advised for somebody who owns these guns and I'm not sure it's in the appropriate place anyway in the NFA market board for a sold item.
  21. This is wishful thinking about the power of the ATF and colt's willingness to fight for somebody else's machine guns
  22. Ruben listed a steel one (without host) 3-5 months back at $45k and it sold within hours. Only way I know is because I check his site multiple times a day because I'm a weirdo.
