  1. Cincylance, I don't know how new it is, I just read about it the other day. I just posted it here just to pass it along. Think it's still a dumb choice on behalf of the Chicago PD, they're just going to get one or more of thier officers either hurt or killed. Then if that misfortune event were to happen, the public and politicians will only scream for tighter gun control BS. The honest gun owners will be the only ones who will end up catching the flack over it as usual.
  2. Yea mike this sounds true and probably is true to a certain degree. However, it is still perfectly LEGAL even in California to make your own firearms so long as you comply with federal law and state law which isn't really as restrictive as you think it would be. Most of Californias gun laws are mostly written to include commercially manufacturered firearms, leaving alot of exceptions to homemade guns. And even with those restrictions they are mostly aimed twards semi-auto rifles and pistols. IE- barrel length. Overall length, magazine capacity etc. By and large home builders may produce thier own guns without containing the evil features and such then still remaining legitimate. Oh one last thing that does specially pertain to homemade guns in California. This state does have a law against ZIP GUNS. Thissometimes does come into conflict with home builders. I'm order to make your own guns and NOT get into trouble regarding building illegal zip guns the way to stay clear is that if your gun looks like a regular conventional gun then it shouldn't be accused of being a zip gun. Now if you build something that looks like something James Bond would use then you're coming very close to the legal border.
  3. Hi guys I know alot of you are into building your own firearms from parts kits and such, I need some assistance with this. Okay how and where can I locate instructions for how to assemble and or construct firearms including welding and brazing frames and the like. I just recently decided to start doing this as a new hobby, but I can't find too many sources of information for how to do this. I've tried amazon and a couple others but THE PROBLEM WITH THAT IS THAT I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PARTICULAR TITLES ARE, SO CAN'T SEARCH FOR EXACT TITLES SINCE I DON'T KNOW THE NAMES TO ASK FOR. One thing I forgot to mention, I'm searching for titles and sources for straight up building firearms. I'm not looking for just information about illegal conversion of semi-auto guns into machineguns, I want to stay on the right side of the laws here. Okay? So can you people help me out in some way? At the moment the projects I'm about ready to begin are for building a Glock pistol, a Leinad derringer, and a semi-auto sten, and eventually a couple of AK and AR projects down the road. But can't start on any of these until I receive some type of instructions for doing so. I know I should probably know these sources already, I used to be an FFL/SOT once upon a time. But that was then.
  4. Yea like I saipod they're trying to act like they are being "politically correct" by cutting out a very important weapon from thier accessibility items. Think about this, the general public is supposed to be able to count on the police to help keep them safe, and provide other assistance when needed. So why in the hell would the powers that be do something (or anything ) that would hinder the polic'spolic's ability to accomplish this task? Essentially, that is exactly what the end result of this is going to be. Unless the Chicago PD decides to equip thier officers vehicles with fully automatic weapons, whitch is usually only Reserved for members of the SWAT teams then the average cop on the beat is going to have to hopefully get by with just his duty pistol and his radio. I wish them good luck with that. And NO I'm not saying that to be sarcastic. If I were a police officer there, I'd just bring one of my own personal shotguns from home and QUIETLY carry thst with me in my department vehicle. I suspect some probably will do that too.
  5. I just read about this on another gun blogsite. . This idea has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard of for reasons that are too obvious to even need to explain. Apparently the Chicago Police Department is in the process of removing all department issued shotguns from every police vehicle in the city. And NO it isn't for the purposes of upgrading to better ones either. The reason for this is because of trying to be POLITICALLY CORRECT. I'll post the link below. I must admit this is a special kind of stupid even for politicians, and any anti-gunners police officers, and chiefs. I actually feel sorry for the officers that this is going to affect. Here's the link http://www.gunwatch.blogspot.com/20/Chicago-pd-management-pulling-in-html?M=1. If the link doesn't work by clicking on it, then cut and paste it in your browser.
  6. I once asked a CA DOJ inspector about exactly what the laws are regarding night vision equipment in California. I spoke with a nice helpful inspector by the name of Bonny I don't remember her last name. Anyway Bonnie explained that the night vision equipment was only illegal if one of two possible situations exist. 1) if the NVD is equipped with an in fared illuminator whitch most NVD are. 2) if the NVD has the IIrd AND IS CURRENTLY ATTACHED TO A Firearm. So if you have a NVD with an ilrc and is NOT attached or mounted on a rifle like for example if you are just using the device while holding it in your hand, and your looking through it then that is perfectly LEGAL to do. It's not illegal until you put it on a gun. Now before you ask why was Bonnie at my location in the first place... Because from1996-2005, I owned and operated a licensed Firearms store that even sold class two firearms. Yes I was a FFL/SOT in California of all states. Bonnie was conducting a routine compliance inspection. BTW no violations were ever found all paperwork was in order and all weapons were all present and accounted for.
  7. Well I didn't win the auction anyway. It just ended this morning somebody evidently outbid me for the parts kit. The flat was just an extra thing the seller had offered to throw into the deal. The main items in the auction was a parts set for a mac 12 semi-auto pistol. So now the receiver FLAT for it is gonna become someone else's problem. It's just as well, I guess. I really don't need any potential headaches like the one you said anyhow. BTW the 80% receiver that I read the reading about on the atf website, there's a description of the one they were referring to an it is clearly a receiver for an AR-15 that has NO HOLES DRILLED AND HAS NOT HAD THE CAVATY OPENED UP FOR THE FIRE CONTROL COMPONENTS. THE WHOLE THING IS STILL TOTALLY SOLID THAT IS WHAT THE BATF CONSIDERS TO BE THE NON-GUN NON REGULATED PIECE OF STEEL.
  8. oh something else, if you look on the atf website under the Q&AQ&A section for questions from people that aren't in the industry, you will find that there is a part listed that DOES ADDRESS THE ISSUE REGARDING THE 80% RECEIVERS YES THERE IS A Q&A QUESTION DIRECTED JUST FOR THOSE ITEMS. You should read it before screaming at me the way that you did about this subject. I'll go copy the Web Addy with the link and post it here later on.
  9. I've read and seen pictures online about the tear gas pen that fires a 20ga shotshell or should I say, is capable of firing a 20ga shotgun shell. So apparently there used to exist 20ga tear gas catridges for it. How do you know it's extremely painful to fire a regular load through it? I assume that you must have done it before obviously. I've seen pics of that launcher but never seen anything of the tear gas loads no pics that I could find.
  10. Well possibly the last update regarding this subject. I finally received my scabbard only just as mentioned above. It's kinda cool actually I mean for being wgat it is, just a hardened shealth. On the bottom it has wire cutters attached to it. Presumably so Spetsnaz troops could cut through fences whole performing clandestine activities. Even though I cannot have the actual knife itself, at least I've got some part of it to add to my personal collection. Perhaps someday the knife will become legal for import and possession by civilians. Maybe, but not likely I know.
  11. Well alright, but if you buy the receiver FLAT then it isn't a gun part right? That seems to be what you just said. So I could legally buy it as it sits as nothing but the flat, then finish up myself into a semi-auto only frame and subsequently build it into a pistol from there. The seller emailed me last night assuring me that the item in question is still currently in the physical form of a flat peice of metal not bent or drilled or nothing.
  12. What do you mean by you lost your investment? Your money invested in that shooting range, or your money you spent buying all that stuff that got confiscated? Thanks for the info though, I'll definitely take it under advisrment.
  13. Greetings all, just like the title says I'm searching for a breech face for the Cobray leinad DD pistol. I've found several sources for the breech faces for the model D, but I need the one for the model DD. Yes as in double D, or double barrel pistol chambered in 45lc/410ga. Anyone around here either have one they'd like to sell, or maybe know of some places that does or can get them? I've tried Cobrays site, but can't find the DD breech face.
  14. I'm damn near about ready to give up on this particular project/idea. I can't hardly find jack shit for these things, for the most part anyway. Ironically, the antique gadget guns are helluva lot easier to locate than any of the newer ones. I'm just gonna concentrate on my building projects. At least parts kits for making title one firearms are all over the Internet.
  15. Wait, I thought it only became a frame if it has the necessary holes drilled in the frame. The bending part doesn't really mean that it has legally become the frame or receiver yet. Look at AR and AK 80% receivers, they are already bent into the correct position but do not have any of the holes drilled in. Rendering them just scrap metal not a gun part.
  16. Lone Ranger the ones I've got were never designed to fire a standard bullet and I don't think one would even fit inside. Either way I've got some old tear gas loads to go with them, that could help me prove no intention of illegal activities if I ever had to prove that I mean. I don't carry thosr for protection or anything. They're just part of my own personal collection that's all. I don't know for a solid fact whether or not BATF really changed the classification or not. That's what I'm really just trying to either confirm or deny. According to the BATF website that somebody emailed me a link to just says penguns that are capable of firing a bullet are firearms, I don't know if any of mine can do it. I'm certainly not gonna try it to find out. So the stalemate continues...
  17. Okay well this post has a lot of views but hardly any replies. Maybe I wasn't clear. What part or component of the Mac 12 is considered to be the frame or receiver? Is it the grip, the housing or some combination of some of these?
  18. Loner anger I was referring to pre-existing tear gas dispenser items. Like most of the tear gas pens that come up for sale on gb or other similar sites. Most were made back in the 60-s sometime. And most aren't even marked in any way. So if you have some of the old ones what are you supposed to do with them of anything.
  19. Ya know I just thought of something else, there's only one place I can think of how you could purchase guns off of the net but it is already illegal. That source being located somewhere on the dark net.
  20. I read this on another site awhile ago and forgot all about it until tonight. Supposedly, the BATF has changed its mind yet again ( big surprise there huh) regarding the older types of tear gas pens, as well as tear gas billies, and a few similar items whitch were and have always been considered NON-FIREARMS and has now placed them into the catagory of NFA AOW items. Is there any truth to this? If so, when did that happen? And furthermore what are the owners supposed to do with any of the old ones that they have in possession? Anyone around here know what in the hell is going on?
  21. Mike any chance you could maybe post a pic of one?
  22. I've recently seen for sale a complete parts kit for building a mac 12 pistol chambered in. 380. The auction states that the frame isn't included but he has an 80% frame available for an additional fee of course. So what I want to know is on this particular gun, whitch part is considered to be the frame? I'm considering buying it buy gotta know what I'm getting into first. I emailed the seller but he hasn't responded yet. You guys here able to provide any assistance? I finally heard back from the seller who assured me that the receiver is nothing but in flat peice of metal without any bends or drilling done whatsoever. So I guess that keeps it in the clear.
  23. Yea the problem wasn't with the FBI or the gun store, and not the rifle either. The problem was that the shooter was a homophobe. As he targeted that club as his sort of gay bashing. That's why he did what he did.
  24. Forgot to add that the seller is located in the Ukraine. He wants $150.00 per each shealth or scabbard it is made from what appears to be kevlar or maybe Russian equivalent to kevlar. To any of you guys that commented on this subject, do you think a hundred and fifty dollars is a fair price for the scabbard? I haven't decided if I'm going to buy one or all three of them that he's got.
