an individual can build anything for his own legal nfa weapon to enhance the existing design or change the caliber etc. the "CATCH" is the change cant be a machine gun and fire ALONE! or be made to do so by an "easy" alteration. one such animal was created by the tech people using a shoe string to make one run. you can complete your build then I would suggest you send it off for approval and make a prior agreement with some SOT to receive it should it not pass. they will not prosecute if a fault is found. in that case they would refuse to return it to you .
I agree with NICK ! while not a fan of any of the 21's I have never had someone ask about a fix for any of mikes work and it looks like a piece of art. that 7.62 gun is BRUTAL! 9 rounds and I was DONE.
ITS BEEN A WHILE AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS THREAD. however at the time I found it fast on U-TUBE scaning AR builds. following many ATF prosecutions its obvious they pile on as many charges as the can at the start in order to weaken defensive attitude. in this case they had him so solid on other charges the chose to drop the receiver charges them selves and it all got twisted by self interest webb vultures attempting to gain notoriety . the violation was flagrant and self supporting enough, but they had him SOLID on much easier to prove charges without opening any debate.
I just had one of my form 4 guns to a dealer clear in 20 days ! things might be looking up?
(sigh) no winning this one, he knows all thus bets us weys.
yes, same as a 1919 left rear ctg stop / front ctg guide /right rear ctg stop. and of course the brl
THIS IS GREAT ADVISE ! nothing went in my 34 with out it. I keep a fat .50 can with a fleece car detail glove in a bag and wipe ea rnd as I load it. then give the entire loaded belt a wipe.
when I found an empty facing the bolt it usually meant the ejector was a tad long. when you have variation in the rate of fire it will also happen as the ejector hits with varied force. all my Rome 8mm was late production and never had any problem other than the expected case sticking when hot. 34's do not like steel cases, period. the german's hade a spl lube not available today and the cases had some type of coating. even then it was avoided and brass first choice.
BUBBA , FIRST let me say I have the most respect for you that possible and have often stated you are the only person I would trust any of my treasures to. my use of caps is not an effort to shout , I do it to simply make sure it gets noticed. case in point, your post. so much information one gets lost trying to take it all in. I mentioned you only because of your interpretation of C+R's in general many times expressed here on sturm. I know all about the "make date" etc. your opinion concerning rewats is the exact opposite of what has occurred on my end. I have done many and never marked or added anything to the gun or paperwork. these did not slip by , several have been examined by tech and my methods have all passed except one. it is impossible to type any sentence of the regulations and cover all the items that make one apply . when a item is brought to me and its status has been forever lost it breaks my heart. each one is a treasure and as value's climb more are coming to light. some owners have quoted your opinion when I advise the path I take, and is the only reason I mentioned you. it was never intended to be any type of attack . I regret ever getting involved as nothing will change this guns status anyhow. he also did not deserve everything that followed, it was a simple honest offer to sell.
after I sent my post, I remembered you can block others from seeing your posts and thought I might have offended him also some time in the past another reason why I detest "webb" or site names what ever you call them. easy to hide and remember. I NEVER understood WHY its done or the benefit . the only time I hide my pants are down and its never in some park
SIR FEW FOLKS IN AMERICA OWNED /SHOT / ENJOYED THE 34 MORE THAN MYSELF. got my first in 1966 and sold my last in 2019! possibly the lastunfired matching example on the planet and it KILLED ME to do so. when the WW II BRASS cased 8mm disappeared . reasonable expectations went with it. sure they would run sometimes, but a perfectly running example could change its mind at any time. many claim other wise this ammo appears to be remanufactured using a mixture of components and most likely COMM BLOCK surplus cases. ammo may be forbidden but parts are not and they are starting to surface. I would NOT use it in any transferable. I got decent results with the surplus RONANIAN 8mm BUT BROKE a LOT of parts. consider, I AM A SHOOTER ! I have MORE than 150 complete bolts 300 as new WW II barrels and a TON of parts to move now that the guns are gone others thinking they shoot a lot may do 5 big shoots and 4-5 days more relaxed. until this year? I shot a MG ALMOST EVERYDAY! if HOME.
GUY'S sorry but its very easy for a C+R to loose that status even though ALL transferable MG's will become C+R's in 2036 the guns that WERE registered DEWATS and anything restored by a SOT that improperly interpreted the regs DESTROYED that history FOREVER! SOME HIGHLY RESPECTED IN THE INDUSTRY TODAY , continue to make that mistake. ANY SOT INFO ON A RECEIVER MUST REMAIN FOREVER! PERIOD FAXTS here in TEXAS killed several that have been resubmitted to the tech dept and its ALWAYS DENIED. IN ORDER TO RETAIN C+R STATUS FOR A FORM 1 DEWAT, THE OWNER MUST APPLY FOR A FORM 4 with EXACTLY the SAME MFG'r importer info on the ORIGINAL form 1 approval to make it live. AFTER IT IS APPROVED then IF A SOT does the repair, HE MUST NOT apply HIS information to the weapon in ANY MANNER, and only log it in as a repair. ANYTHING ADDED TO THE RECEVER OR ALTERATION AFTER THE FACT VOIDS THE C+R STATUS! I RESPECT BUBBA ALL THE WAY BUT WE DO NOT AGREE ON HIS VIEWS CONCERNING C+R'S AT ALL! I HAVE DONE THIS MANY TIMES WITH SEVERAL CHALLENGED BY THE TECH DEPT SINCE APPRX 2010 NOT A SINGLE EXAMPLE WAS REJECTED! MY LAST CHALLENGE WAS IN 2019 ! I HAVE EXPLAINED THIS IN DETAIL SEVERAL TIMES, AND ITS NOT THAT HARD! YOU CANT TAKE THE SIDEPLATE OFF A COLT AIRCRAFT VICKERS AND PUT GROUND GUN PARTS ON IT AND KEEP C=R STATUS! THE RULES ARE PLAIN , A C+ R MUST BE EXACTLY AS IT LEFT THE FACTORY ON ITS BIRTHDAY. repairs , refinish, NO PROBLEM AIR COOLED TO WATER COOLED NOT POSSIBLE ! a barreld action can NOT be transferred as a C+R. it must be as a modern weapon. IF RESTORED to its OLD original configuration, it REGAINS its STATUS ONLY AFTER THE WORK IS COMPLETED a 1911 COLT .45 cut for ADJUSTABLE sights is NOT a C+R, but it CAN be restored and regain its STATUS . sometimes a ATF "challenge" can be fixed with PICS and a written explanation , BUT many times they will require it be sent to TECH for physical examination. I HAVE DONE BOTH AND WON THEM ALL. one small but important "loophole" exists that ATF accepts concerns SOME not all, GERMAN MG-08's and RUSSIAN 1910 WW II GUNS only. during WW II BOTH sides used complete and partial guns to complete a running weapon in their caliber. if in the registry b-4 JUNE 1970 without modern SOT info they are legit C+R's. in closing I did examine a JAP 96 done by FAXTS. the owner from a C+R only state sent pics not showing the markings and they granted the transfer. had they requested the GUN it would have failed like every other one I know of. (sigh) cheers MIKE
A VERY INTERTAINING ONE SIDED CONFLICT! all from KIRK . WHERE IS THE OTHER SIDE YOU ARE RESPONDING TOO?
THUMPY < YUP no pics
FELLERS MOVE WITH CAUTION IF YOU WILL, I used to include a copy of my form 4 in any shipment and now I put a note inside to contact the recipient if there is any problem. In the 80's a customer trading us a COLT 21 for a MP-40 suffered a huge loss due to break in the weekend AFTER he shipped the gun. the detectives solved the case and it took a couple months to find out how, less than half of his stuff was ever found. it turns out THE COLT was stolen at the post office the day he dropped it off. obviously the thief used the info inside to case his home and hit it the next day. even with all the high tech security these days THEY STILL MAKE STUPID IDIOTIC SHARKS that don't seem to know. In feb this year my SOT handled a out of state transaction and a $4800 hand gun was stolen out of the post office. the camera's solved the case, but it still took more than a week , case solved , gun recovered and I hope the SHARK is hiding in a corner with a sore throat and butt trying to figure out who to blame for his ILL treatment.
I don't live there but would still like to know why when and how they managed to get the ban PASSED. any thoughts sir MIACOVET ?
GADS I HATE THESE DAMNED NICK NAMES , board names what ever you call them AS MUCH AS NANCY! I freely admit I AM a DINOSAUR but whats up with that anyhow
NOTICE THE TOTAL LACK OF DETAILS CONCERNING MOST OF THOSE 13? look at the 240 in the pics. FRANKENGUN wont come close looks like a HI POINT HOST WITH A Hk grip?
sticknrudder, DAM RIGHT ITS A NICE PIECE ! speaks for itself LOUD AND PROUD . BOBS people do it as good as possible. the 08 side plate is not that uncommon. there was a time when the RUSSIAN gun would bring DOUBLE or MORE than the more common MG-08's all over the place. the C+R status is controlled strictly by the paperwork and how the manufacturer info is entered. BY regulation ANY C+R must remain in EXACTLY THE SAME CONFIGURATION as originally built to qualify. C+R's and be killed many ways but paper work is the main culprit. I have an exact match to your gun that has transferred as a C+R several times. its a fact BOTH the RUSSIANS AND GERMANS changed each others guns in every possible way. the GERMAN examples are easier to document, but in reality its the very first form entering the weapon in the registry that carry's the most weight. in this post, I brought up several things that could take many pages to explain fully. Don't be discouraged. its not the gun its the available MONEY ! all the huge collections coming to market the past 3 years has used it all up . post WW II guns like M-16 / M-60 are still hot but the WW II and earlier took a hit. in 2002 it was almost impossible to find a Vickers for sale and in 2013 one collection dumped more than 40 at one time they are just now starting to recover and bring more money but still 30% below normal. so don't worry, the right guy WILL come along.
YUP AND VERY COMMON! some were known to be a bit soft and the "PIN" did the long walk so a spare is always a GOOD THING! should be an easy sale.
b-san, sorry but individual to dealer in 3-4 months is nowhere close to the average reported. work the actual reported numbers and its more like 9 months overall. yes a few are moving faster, just like many form 1's and 4's to individuals. they are exceptions to the rule and not "normal". ALAN THOSE QUOTES ARE FANTASTIC! keep em coming.
if on a form 4 , I DONT BELIEVE E-FILE is POSSIBLE. it must jump thru the hoops like an individual. the last form -4 gun I bought was almost 11 months b-4 approval to my dealer. others claim 120 days or less . nothing like that has happened on my end the past 6 yrs or more

these are "PRE MAY" CORRECT? wow live and learn. I don't keep up with the modern stuff well , but several RKI's told me they were almost unobtainium.

currently there are several examples for sale below $20k. one right here on STURM is relisted from long ago. as wing guns they are just tough to sell and the market confirms that . SADLY $ 22/25k is a wish full dream. there is a mint C+R package in AZ with a complete rear aircraft carriage mount and many other acc. actively presented at shoots and show's . it has been ignored more than a year at $22k so be care full what info guides you.
Is a c&r license worth the headaches?

OVER the years , I have also heard all these HORROR STORIES about ATF late night exams and everything else you can think of. NOT ONE WENT PAST THE FIRST BLURT OF B/S! in 40+ years know of only 1 "visit" checking the transfer of a pistol found in a stolen car that was traced back to the lic holder. they took note of the log out info, said thank you and left. I have never had more than a C+R and have ZERO facts about the other federal licenses. I went through the JACK BOOT DAYS following passage of the 68 gun control act and all the people I knew back then that were dealers in NFA and manufacturers ALSO had / have C+R licenses. I don't know if the trend is to work on the "grey" side or if all the activity done is 100% legit. it was explained to me that a out of state transferor MUST invoice a modern firearm to the transferee BEFORE he leaves the state with it or must be shipped to the new buyer when they get home.. so unless both licensee's are in their home state , any new transactions require the firearm to be shipped from the transferors home address even if paid in full. several of the old time dealers like OHIO ORD ABIDE BY THAT RULE. WHEN THEY ARE AT KNOBB CREEK , any modern arm bought there , will go home and be shipped when they return PERIOD. if its a C+R and sold to a C+R holder, its hand to hand. I see all kinds of transactions done other ways , but avoid them completely. so for me, the advantage of a C+R is well worth it. NON NFA transfers ANY WHERE , ANY WAY. SHOOTS ? C+R NFA no form 5 just go and enjoy
