  1. I have a 98% UNTOUCED BYF/ 42 high turret 100% matching with every proper proof etc. original sling and eyecup perfect bore. DIALITYN 4X glass. standard 98k safety lever . I inherited it in 1966 from my master Sarge high power trainer. its been 5 yrs since I took it of the wall in the vault. I'm 69 and NO HIERS , what will it bring? its EXACTLY WHAT I DESCRIBED AND I DONT PLAY WITH PICTURE COLLECTOR'S mike todd
  2. DUSTYN, I believe LEE TOOL has both side plates . It so, they will be new after market and may not have any holes or the cams installed . also most of his plates DO NOT have the required " DENIAL ISLANDS" to prevent original parts assembly. you would need to add that to the RIGHT PLATE BEFORE doing anything else. ATF made a special ruling concerning VICKERS RIGHT PLATES. IE; A Vickers RIGHT plate WITHOUT the DENIAL IS A MACHINE GUN BY ITSELF no other parts need be present. a plate cut to shape without any holes is just a piece of steel. drill one hole, its a machine gun. for an original you might check with BRP CORP, the have a ton of Vickers stuff and its not sorted, so it changes from time to time also keep watch at IMA- USA they often list new stuff but they LOVE to ship the junk FIRST and returns are TOUGH! so beware GOOD LUCK MIKE TODD
  3. DAN, NO DENYING THE TOMLINSON SCOWL IS THERE? when was that taken? he built several guns for me and in my opinion only Dick Wray could equal his work. my police short argentine Vickers was talk of the industry when it hit the line. they thought it was original. I actually had to use DOLPH to get him to talk to me, it was either complete silence or loud swearing , nothing in between. I cant get enough of the Vickers, DOLPH hit it on the head with "THE GRAND OLD LADY" didn't he? I take one out every time I shoot without fail . and don't care how many I stack up, there is 7 in the stable now and I'm NOT a DEALER. CHEERS MIKE!!
  4. CHARLIE, yes as usual buddy got it right, it is 7x47. looked all my life for a FAL in that caliber. even drilled the guys at FN about it in person and never got a straight answer about the guns. when we went to Venezuela and bought several tons of surplus, that ammo was bought for less than a penny a rnd because the did not have anything to shoot it. it was a joint buy with Interarms and Val Forget. I kept more than 400k rnds and made brls for my brownings and Vickers to shoot it. the Vickers loved it . ITS CLEAN and works great . I still have maybe 4 crates and 2 new Vickers brls. also I would tear it down and put the same charge and bullet in new 7x57 brass for my madsen nice that its marked for the FAL on the box hugh? cheers mike
  5. KIRK, GREAT FIND, I believe it to be the MANN acc tester also. I had seen one in some book years ago, I believe it was from the Herc. powder plant? value is TOUGH! it positively has historical significance as its an original WWII date etc. I would not hesitate to make your howitzer if you can do it without any permanent alterations. maybe clamp all the additions instead of any welding . when finished you could clean everything well and hit it with an epoxy paint that could be removed. I did something like that to a odd ball 8 gauge kiln gun. and later sold it to a guy that put it back to original. VALUE? never seen one for sale. ROCK ISLAND has a Remington 8 gauge MILL gun for breaking cast molds it was made in the 30's and is not near as rare as what you have. looks to operate with a sliding breech and a lever also. its in the feb auction and low start is just over $3k GOOD JOB! I LOVE IT. mike todd
  6. I have seen it move at .50 per round a few times past months.it brings more than that at the big house auctions like rock island etc, getting close to .70 per rnd with premium, but all ammo moves high at those things my last load from J+G was $27.15 per crate should have bought 10 times more maybe?
  7. okay, I cant resist, here is my 3 cents. trying to rebuild my collection back to what it was pre 1980, since 2012, I have bought 31 nfa weapons. that is about the time they hired all the new trainee's to "ease the work load" and streamline the entire system. almost half have required multiple applications OR pictures and other "clarification of status". let me begin by stating, I'm totally supportive with what they are doing and why. you guys are forgetting, or don't know about the maxims with a piece of mac10 welded to the side with the serial # and MFGR. or the M60's with BM 59 stamped on the trunion etc. there were successful prosecutions and people are serving time as I type this. I don't know all the specifics but can relate positively what happened to me with the proposed changes. it was explained to me that it is now bureau policy when doing a transfer to roll all the way back to the ORIGINAL registration form and comparing it to the new application, changing what they feel is needed on the new application to clarify exactly what is being transferred. In 2013 I bought an original Belgium army Issue FALO made in 1961. it was originally amnesty registered as a "SHORT RIFLE" on a plain hand written form. obviously the registrant believed it to be other than a typical "heavy machine gun" but being capable of select fire needed to be registered. it had been transferred to the auction house before they went back to the original and was represented to be a lawful transferable machine gun at the sale. my original app was returned with "not approved " in large red ink across both pages and no explanation. when queried they explained it was not reg as a machine gun. I believe when the supervisor explained to me that it was an amnesty weapon , he made a mistake and should not have disclosed that because he worked VERY close with me for the next 3 yrs. finally they agreed to accept it as a machine gun and disclosed that in 2016 all examples of a "factory" built FAL would be a C+R suggesting that I wait the couple months for that to occur, send the forms direct to the supervisor in martinsberg and he would hand carry it for approval. come 2016 I sent in new form 4 with a new check and lic. it was returned in 2 weeks untouched with a note that it was mailed to the wrong place. I emailed him, reminding him of our previous conversation and he claimed no knowledge of that. I then mailed hard printed copies of all the forms, all the emails which clearly showed the opposite. the approved forms were returned the following week. REMEMBER this gun was on the original form as a "short rifle" and they fixed that. now for the bad issue with them at the same time I bought a Charlie erb built Vickers gun serial #623 they requested pictures of the gun showing marking , serial and a tape along side it. I complied, waited 6 months then called and they claimed all the forms were "lost" . then they demanded I send the gun to be examined and approved for "compliance". I protested, claiming undue hardship and enclosed another set of pictures. they then explained that Charlie had another weapon in the registry #623 and it was in the hands of an individual. therefore my gun had to be renumbered with a 12 digit ATF # and new forms. I asked them to confirm what model the "other" 623 was and they stated it did not matter, no MFGR could use the same NO twice. of course that's absurd, many MFGR's use the same number for different models. they replied that was not correct, gave me 2 weeks to comply or have my dealer "destroy" the weapon. in order to keep my dealer clear, I agreed and stamped the 12 digits. maybe that was 5 cents worth? mike
  8. AHH yes no one wants WWI guns, actually the lack of decent ammo has had the most effect on ALL the tripod guns both WWI and WWII UNLESS there is a reasonable supply of ammo to run in them. even the M-2 .50's are climbing why? because you can shoot them. another thing that will make your question have diff answers is faith in the build. many Vickers guns were "garage" or one off builds by someone with little experience. the Vickers is NOT an easy build. yes it can be riveted and look right, but few can build one that wont leak or down right flood the station when shooting. consequently if suspect it wont bring any money. several examples have sold for less than $12k since 2014. I even bought 2 for less than $11k WITH EXTRAS. should you get stuck with one of those, be prepared to spend close to $2k to get it fixed right. examples that are known to be built by the people that know how like PAT TOMLINSON, CHARLIE ERB, DICK WRAY (VSM) will and do continue to bring around $18k with the mount the Vickers is not the only gun to endure this down turn, both the 1919 and the water cooled Brownings can be found at "bargain prices" because of the double standard. I caught an ARGENTINE COLT with a 17a1 mount for $10,500 on gunbroker. and almost missed it at no reserve. bought it in the last 30 minutes? and it was a Group IND built gun with the COLT engravings that were not cheep. BOTTOM LINE? the average price for a QUALITY built Vickers with orig mount is just under $17k. DO YOUR HOMEWORK and buy from reputable people. cheers mike todd
  9. Charlie, not MG-15, I have guns with both variations and they don't match. I believe # 7 to be the vane sight for the lewis aircraft gun. and indeed may be Japanese. the bought some and made some. we had more than 10 variations when the lewis was prime for us but its been 30 + yrs ago. as for # 9 check the threads if not metric it looks exactly like my bell sight.. NICE BATCH! mike
  10. DG, from the tone of your post, methinks maybe you are already "locked and loaded" for a problem? I believe you will find very little to complain about when interacting with Law enforcement and your "full auto fire" unless you come off with an attitude that gets it there. I don't care if your playing soccer, put a chip on your shoulder and SOMEONE will show you how easy it comes off. I have been using these things since the early 60's and yes had a few unpleasant encounters but they all ended well and that's what counts. new officers often come from the city and have little experience with recreational shooters much less exotic military hardware. follow the advice from the previous posts and step away from the weapon, be courteous and present your paperwork and ID. an officer asking about full auto fire is confirming that the activity is lawful and not "presuming criminality". as in all things ATTITUDE sets the pace. so relax and enjoy your purchase. cheers mike todd
  11. WOW! GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! please keep us posted.
  12. GORGON, I also have several of those shotgun mags. if I remember correctly they were spares for an obscure Chinese pump that was banned by the Clinton admin right when they arrived. pretty much junk, I was told almost all were doomed in customs, maybe a good thing? mike todd
  13. BILL, all the rest of the drums, are ex SAN QUENTON and like new, so they will stay home for now. I wouldn't have any idea where to price a like new matching drum any way. the one I posted had to be way under market because it had 6 firm commitments.
  14. THANX, REALLY WANTED TO ATTEND. could not board my dog and just didn't feel that good, so I stayed home and worked on the mess
  15. thanx for all the response (20+) with out names etc, I have no idea how to reply or what the order is??? several emails etc.

  17. riflejunky, just couldn't resist putting my 2 cents worth here. while most call these MG-13 mags and they do indeed fit the mg-13, they were actually part of the german forces armament before the MG-13 existed. while traveling in Europe I met a German gentleman in Madrid that had a major collection of manuals and as a result used him for info and translation more than 10years. He stated and presented field manuals that showed they were officially named "magazine 25 rounds" when inventoried or ordered. the earliest documentation he had showing use, was in a little known semi auto 8x57 rifle called the fliers rifle in the manual. it was used to attack BARRAGE BALLOONS with incendiary ammo over trenches etc. to answer your question, they are very common in the market place. IMA offers singles for around $30 and a metal carry chest full for $250 or so. they are very use full if you do much with 8mm mauser. in the past I have adapted them to the K-43 , FN-49 and others. K-98 bolt actions come up once and a while and always believed to be non military adaptations but quite a few were located in the Russian salt mines giving them credibility. I owned an example with Vietnam bring back papers of all things. they were spot welded in the trigger guard. well maybe it was 4 cents worth but it is was it is. cheers mike
  18. DAN, I have done this both ways several times EVEN with all the new examiners the last couple of years. LOOK the easy way to keep straight with the C+R issue when NFA-C+R weapons are involved is to understand the only thing changed in the transaction is the transferee (buyer) may receive it from an out of state transferor (seller) direct to his location OR pick it up in person, WITHOUT using a dealer. the responsible person forms can be ignored as stated in the instructions if an individual. WHEN the previous transfer did NOT involve a C+R LICENSE be prepared for a LONG WAIT. I was asked to submit PROOF of originality 5 out of 7 times with legitimate weapons. all but one were approved but it took two years plus in some cases. the one remaining they demand I send the weapon in even though the manufacturer on the form has not existed or done business for 73 years ?
  19. ALBERT, I have a bolt / charge handle recoil ass, 3 trunions and two rear sights. all excellent condition had them 40+ yrs. NO idea how to price it. HELP?
  20. tried it or NOT if you ever drop the hammer with the Geissele full auto trigger kit , you will NOT be satisfied. "pricey" for a reason !
  21. HEY GUYS REMEMBER, I SAID "SILENCERS" should NOT come out of the registry (although I don't know where they will find any) NOT SUPPRESOR'S. only when they remove suppressors from the NFA will the big advantage be realized. it would certainly help all the ranges that are being assaulted with noise complaints and countless other benefits
  22. LATEST news flash on this fiasco. Normally when I'm asked about NFA weapons, my first request would be for a copy of or at least info from the existing forms to learn what is actually being presented My contact while trying to do his best , had no paperwork other than the STATE forms and I know nothing about them or the format. when asked questions about a specific weapon he was relying on memory and put the wrong things together. it looks like some M-16 info got applied to the USAS. ALL the GREAT INFO YOU GUYS gave me, made me push on and get it right. with the USAS IN HIS HAND, I now know ALL the physical facts about it. it is indeed a SEMI ONLY and has NOT been altered or messed with, but may not be correctly assembled. it is registered federally as a DD. My only interest was the full auto aspect so as soon as a price can be figured out I will post it on the board. AGAIN YOU GUY'S SAVED ME A BUNCH OF DISAPPOINTMENT WITH THE CORRECT INFO THANX! MIKE
  23. LOST VEGAS!! is the latest new's according to MSNBC, had he brought a silencer along the death toll would have been much higher? maybe double. well no worries all they talk about is silencer's and we want suppressor's off the register . SILENCER"S NEED TO STAY ON SO THE NUTS CANT GET THEM and I'm all for that
  24. I'm one that takes joy in remaining loyal to GENE'S original design and don't have any piston uppers. why take a great 5.5lb weapon and create another 8 lb+ rifle? however I do like the switchable gas blocks . they offer a suppressor setting and a normal. a little pricey but well woth it if the das bothers you. try it without, they are easy enough to change,
