  1. The S&W 76 is a clone and the MK760 is a clone of a clone.
The former, is a well made gun. The later, has been known to have many issues. That being said, there’s good ones and bad ones with anything.

I know people that have / had the MK760 and they just don’t seem to be that reliable. Even after work being done. It’s seem like the MK’s suffer from Q&C issues. The prefix in the serial number will tell you if it was a machine gun, rifle or pistol. Some people say the factory guns that were made from the start are the best option to go with. Rather than a rifle they rushed to convert before the ban. Again, I know someone that is having an issues with one of those factory MG’s.

Parts are hard to come by too but it seems like KAK is making parts for the 76/760

I’m not trying to be negative about them but they just don’t have the best reputation.

    Good luck.

  2. I recently shipped one out for repair and after doing a lot of research, USPS Registered Mail is what I went with. Furthermore, I bought a cheap Apple air tag and placed it (hidden) in the package. I asked the gunsmith if he had any issues with me putting one in there, he did Not.

I found out the hard way that Registered Mail is slow, really slow. Thankfully, it got there safe. You can insure Registered Mail up to 50k irc.
I shipped the MG in a rifle case and insured it for 30k. That cost me $207, which aim to bad. The package has to be sealed with brown paper tape on the edges and they then stamp that.

Just my two cents. Good luck!

  3. Have you check FloridaGunTrader?

It’s full of cupcakes but sometimes there’s good deals

My friend picked up one recently for under $1K on FLGunTrader. I think he ended getting it for $950. Also, check the Blue sky import guns. They sell for less and are usgi guns but they have a horrible mark on the barrel. It’s for a registered pack, so who cares.

I still think 1k is the right price for one of these.

I bought a cheap usgi BlueSky M1 carbine and SBR’ed it for my registered trigger housing.

  4. Really nice guy.
I never purchased anything from him but came really close about 6 months ago.

I was able to meet him at his place and see the gun in person. He answered all my questions, showed me the appropriate paperwork and then we talked for sometime.
I was extremely comfortable with him and if I had the chance to buy anything he was selling, I’d feel comfortable buying it. JMO.

  5. I’ve own all that you’ve listed and
My advice is if you’re going to be on a budget in the future and you can swing an sp1 conversion now or non Colt RR, do it.
I enjoy all of my Macs and they’re a lot of great aftermarket accessories and hopefully more to come. At the end of the day AR/m-16 are just plug and play and everything is already (readily) available for them. If you want a 22 kit, get one from PSA for $169 with 3 mags. Good luck doing that with any Mac. If you want a belt fed, you can buy it now too.
If you want to get your feet wet and try it with the likely hood of more money to throw around in the future, get a Mac. All Mac options are great and it’s hard to go wrong with any of them.

  6. I’d suggest doing a FOIA request. I’m not sure how it could be a transferable (non dealer sample) if the company started business post 86.
If that’s the case, it’ll likely be caught down the road. It’s happened to a few people.

Furthermore, the registry has so many errors and to make it more complicated, M1/M2 carbines and all of their registered parts makes it one of the worst with things that could’ve been registered.

  7. I’d check out these guys.

It appears they’re Ruger certified to work on the mini-14’s. My friend has used them in the past. With great results, it’s was a barrel replacement for a mini-14.
I had my local gunsmith do cut down a mini-14 sbr and thread it (AC-555K clone) and did a great job. He told me it was an easy job too. That being said, if I had to get work done to one of my two Ruger machine guns, I’d likely go with someone who’s certified.

  8. The M11 small magwell is an awesome little gun. Get a CFW-A bolt for it and you can have a really controlled little package or put your factory bolt back in for one hell of a ride. Plus, Mak91 over on UziTalk is making a lot of different uppers for them along with the M10 and the M11/9’s.

The CFW-A bolt was initially made for the M11/9 but in my option, it’s perfection in the M11 (380).

  9. I’ve SBRed one of my mini-14 folders. I just did a form 1 and when the stamp came back, I just took it to a machine shop and had them cut it down and thread it. Also, I did NOT mess with my gas port or bushing. I put an AC-556K front gas block sight on it and it’s works great. It even runs 22LR great, with a conversion.

I’ve heard that some guns will be under gassed though. Mine is NOT a ranch model, just an old Mini-14 folder.

Here’s a video of me shooting 22LR through it.
